Misinformation, Information Literacy & Gen AI
Ethnographic Research, 2021-
As a Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge, I conduct long-term ethnographic research with at-risk users on the effects of emerging technologies. I work with medical & election misinformation consumers, amplifiers, and creators; former conspiracy theorists; people in recovery, and young people aged 13-26. I study their information ecosystems & pathways, online behaviors, and trust heuristics using participant-observation, interviews, digital diaries & walkthroughs, and surveys.

Smart Cities, Ageing & Imagined Futures
Postgraduate Ethnographic Research, 2015-2021
In this long-term ethnographic project, I conducted research with technologists, caregivers, and older residents developing smart homes using wireless sensor networks, AI/ML and smart phone apps. I also worked with government agencies and urban planners designing digital health initiatives for residents. I analysed how states materialise future imaginaries through smart urban infrastructure and how residents reshape those imaginaries through everyday embodied practice.

Medical Data & Community-Based Care
Community Health and Social Care Research, 2012-15
As an academic (Yale/UCL) and public sector (Healthwatch City of London) researcher, I conducted ethnographic and survey research with community members and medical professionals on communication technologies and patient data software. I mapped support systems for patient health and well-being, focusing on experiences with digital health services. In my public sector work, I wrote data-driven policy reports on health and social care services for the NHS. I also created a bespoke cancer patient information website based on this research.
